2010-09-03 - Two Rides This Labor Day Weekend
Just to let you all know, we have 2 rides heading out this long weekend. The first one will be our usual Sunday run leaving Mud St. and #20 at 10:00am, and another will be heading out on Monday. Same bat-time, same bat-channel.
2010-08-23 - New Start Time For Wednesday Evening Ride
Due to the fact that it is getting darker earlier out there, we have decided to start the Wednesday evening rides at 6:30pm instead of 7pm, weather permitting of course. We will still meet for coffee before the ride at 6pm :-)
2010-08-06 - New 3rd Officer
With the departure of my good friend Doc from the officer ranks, I needed some one to step in that I knew enjoyed riding and helping out. I asked Bob Jerome (aka: "Bojo") if he would mind stepping up into the role of 3rd Officer, and he graciously accepted. Bojo has been out to at least 75% of our rides, if not more, and is always willing to help out with every ride. So I would now like to thank Bob for stepping up to help out the 007 by taking the 3rd Officer position. Looking forward to working with you to keep this such a strong and fun chapter to be a part of :-)
2010-08-04 - Dance Benefit For Olivia MacNamara.
If you recall a few updates back, I informed you all about one of our members that had a granddaughter that was battling cancer. Pat "Dog Face" MacNamara (#7097) has just had his granddaughter, Olivia, go through her second round of chemo therapy. She has responded well to the treatment, but there is still a long way to go, and the family really needs some help. So they have organized a dance to help raise funds and I found out some of the details yesterday. The dance will be held Friday evening, September 24th at the Moose Lodge located on Barton St. East between Parkdale and Woodward Ave. (Right next door to Princess Auto). The dance will start at 7:00pm and will feature raffles, door prizes, 50/50 draw and a buffet, as well as a cash bar. Tickets will be $10/person. I asked the lady I talked to (Joanne, another of Pat's daughters I think) if they would mind if people from the CMC show up wearing their vests to show our support for a fellow member, and she said that they would love it if we did.
In typical CMC fashion, I got fast replies from that email with members willing to help out any way they could. Joanne was informed of this, and really appreciates it. She asks that if people could bring a food item to compliment the buffet, it may go a long way in helping out. If any of you can do this, please let me know as soon as you can, and I will give you her phone number so you can get in touch with her to let her know what you plan on bringing. This way there won't be too much of one thing. She asks that if any one does bring food, that it is placed in a disposable container. This way they don't have to worry about returning dishes. Myself and a few others plan on also sticking around to the end of the dance to help clean up the hall afterward.
We will have tickets available at all following rides/events for members to purchase and show their support. Thanks every one.
John (Furbie).
